New Era – More to Come

I’m starting a new era of my work life. Beginning September, I am doing a soft launch of kg learning. I’ve taken a job outside of training, but I want to keep my creative juices flowing in my free time. So I’m going to freelance and build a portfolio. There will be a few parts to this.

  • Instructional Design work through Upwork. I plan on starting to bid for work on Upwork beginning September 1st. Instructional design, curriculum design, editing, writing. I can help you with your project. I’m starting very small, but hope to build out my clientele.
  • Instructional design work for my husband. My husband is also in education. He is a visiting professor at a local university, and has inherited some fairly grim looking power points. We’re making them interesting and educational. I’m starting in PowerPoint, moving up to Canva when I figure out how to make it do what I want it to do, and once we have a license, Articulate. This will add to my experience, help the family, and I can learn more about integrating with learning management systems. Plus I can teach him how to do it himself.
  • Design challenges – once I have Articulate again, I’m going to start up the ELH design challenges again. I’m also doing The eLearning Designer’s Academy challenges starting in September.
  • Book Club – I’m going to read and discuss training and development books (and other business books) as I continue my learning.

One thing that I like to do is to work out loud. I’ll show what I’m doing and how the sausage gets made.

Things are pretty exciting. We both start new jobs tomorrow!
