Working Out Loud
I tend to work out loud, because it keeps me accountable. So the training I’m presenting next month as a lot of components to it. Primarily it is lecture and practice based. But as I look at my board and how it pans out, there’s a lot of room for activities.

So… I’ve been remiss…
My day job has been busy and my farm has been exciting. But we got our Christmas present – a Huion Tablet for kglearning. I’ve wanted something like this since I had a tiny little wacom tablet for a few weeks when I was in the training department at H&R Block.
Look at this beauty!

A picture’s worth a thousand words today
Literally. At least a thousand.
Today I had a client who needed to understand the difference between a simple and a complex trust. It’s something that I learned so many moons ago that I maybe shortcut my terminology. After a half-hour call, and another half-hour call, I suggested that OK, I’ll give the answer now – it’s a simple trust for years X, Y, and Z. And I’ll send you something to help you decide next time.
Project #1
Project number one is for my number one person. My husband is starting a new job too – a professor at a local university. I’m using his class to play with designs.

I’m starting a new era of my work life. Beginning September, I am doing a soft launch of kg learning. I’ve taken a job outside of training, but I want to keep my creative juices flowing in my free time. So I’m going to freelance and build a portfolio. There will be a few parts to this.

I’m midway through building my ELH project for this challenge. This challenge is to use interactive sliders in your work. I’m using them to calculate gain on the sale of the house.
Where I’m at: I’ve storyboarded on paper, and started building. I have the glossary and lightbox slide done (I’m also playing with 413, using lightbox slides). Building out the first section on basis. I’ve got to troubleshoot a couple of slides that aren’t performing as I expect yet, and I’ve got to build another scenario for basis, but so far I’m liking it. I’m using a storytelling basis for the content, following John and Lila. They arrive in your office worrying about the tax impact of selling their home after 25 years.
E-Learning Challenge 418
The brief on this challenge is to use motion graphics in a course. I have a blog Goad Farm for farm sales. I decided to create a logo with motion, for things that might require some explanation – projects, products etc.
Portfolio
As a creative outlet, I’ve been creating courses using various tools. I’ll post these here. This will include E-Learning Hero challenges, as well as other courses I create. If you want more information about my portfolio, please email me at kthutch@gmail.com.
